Sustainability is central to Elbit America’s operations, and protecting our natural resources is essential to our long-term success. On World Conservation Day, July 28, it’s the perfect time to spotlight how employees at our Charleston site work to conserve the surrounding wetlands.
Elbit America's Charleston facility resides in the Lowcountry, full of marshes, tidal creeks and swamps. Scott Carns, Senior Facilities Manager at the site, noted that surrounding wetlands serve as a vital basin for stormwater during hurricanes and severe weather, providing critical protection, especially when there’s tremendous rainfall that tests the city’s infrastructure.
“These wetlands do more than create a beautiful backdrop, they play a crucial role in sustainability by preventing carbon release into the atmosphere, helping to reduce our environmental footprint. They’re an essential part of our site’s sustainability responsibility,” said Carns.
Carns noted that protecting natural resources directly aligns with Elbit America’s core values and commitment to sustainability.
He said, “Our pledge to ‘do the right thing’ and ‘make a difference’ means every team member plays a role in minimizing and eliminating potential contaminants from our operations. Placing skilled employees in the right roles with the proper education is critical to safeguarding these wetlands for future generations. Together, we prioritize what matters most: our home.”
