Fort Worth employees rally to support area pets in need

Elbit America volunteers collect hundreds of pounds of pet food and package it for distribution

Faced with economic uncertainty, families must make difficult decisions. Securing food for the household can be hard enough, but they often have to stretch resources to cover the furry members of their families, too. If circumstances are too dire, some may choose to give away or surrender their animals when the cost of pet food is too much to bear. But that's where the Fort Worth-based non-profit Don't Forget to Feed Me (DF2FM) comes into play. With theirESA Donated Food - Christy-Kim network and recent help from Elbit America employees, animals in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex now benefit from hundreds of pounds of additional pet food at the ready.

Distributing about 35,000 pounds of animal food per month, DF2FM is a pet food bank. They collect and manage pet food donations and distribute that food to those in need through a network of nearly 40 partners. As there are no federal or state funding to provide such support to pets, organizations like this are supported through donations of food or funds.

As part of the Fill The Dish Pet Food Drive during October 2025, Elbit America employees donated roughly 400 pounds of pet food, 15 boxes of animal treats, and nearly 450 donation bags to support the cause. But there was more. A handful of employees also filled 2,400 individual pet food bags in preparation for distribution through DF2FM.

Elbit America employee Kim Trost said, "It’s such an easy way to give back to the community, and to our neighbors and pets in need. This activity gave me the opportunity to be a very small part of something that makes the lives of dog and cat owners a little bit better. Now, they don’t have to worry about their pet’s next meal."

"My dog, Birdie, is my lifeline. She’s the calm to my chaos, and I can’t image life without her. Learning that access to pet food can make the difference between someone keeping or surrendering their fur family just broke my heart," said Robyn Jones, another Elbit America employee who participated in the pet food drive and DF2FM volunteer activity. "I recently came across the question, 'What can we do right now to make the hard easier?' And, for me, this was that thing."

DF2FM tries to accommodate as many partners as they can and currently has a wait list. Despite the growing demand for pet food within the Metroplex, DF2FM has managed to distribute 12 million meals to pets since 2008.

Whether your Team Dog or Team Cat, DF2FM always welcomes donations and volunteers, and it's easy to get involved. Volunteers can help by breaking down large bags of donated pet food, so they can be easily distributed to families and pets in the community. It's not hard.

"Don’t Forget to Feed Me is a great way to volunteer with the whole family by physically bagging the food or through food and monetary donations," said employee Cassandra Ransom. "You don’t need special skills, talents or very many people to make a difference."

"I was surprised by the huge volume of pet food this charity distributes each month, and how quick and easy it was to make a difference to local pets," said employee Christy Bland.
