Elbit Systems of America Receives Ethics Inside® Certification

Scottsdale, AZ – March 18, 2014 – The Ethisphere Institute, an independent center for research, best practices and thought leadership in corporate ethics and compliance and designator of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, announced today that Elbit Systems of America (ESA), a subsidiary of Elbit Systems Limited, has earned the coveted Ethics Inside® Certification.

"ESA has literally transformed their ethics and compliance program into a superior example in just a few short years,” said Eric O. Morehead, Senior Compliance Counsel, Compliance Advisory Services for NYSE Governance Services, an Ethisphere licensed credentialing partner. “The team at ESA has been creative and diligent, including taking time to do a multi-site code of conduct ‘road show’ to bring the message directly to all corners of their enterprise. ESA shows no signs of slowing this progress and has a full agenda of future initiatives."

“Receiving the Ethics Inside® Certification, validates the commitment of ESA employees to ‘do the right thing’,” stated Raanan Horowitz, ESA President and CEO. “It isn’t just a tag line, it’s our culture. Our core values are embedded throughout our organization. ESA is committed to establishing strong ethical processes, educational opportunities, communication campaigns, and leadership development ensuring employees understand our commitment to do the right thing and their role is maintaining ethical excellence for our company, and more importantly, our customers.”

“We would like to congratulate ESA for earning Ethics Inside Certification,” said Michael Byrne, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Ethisphere. “They join an exclusive group of companies that have not only implemented adequate standards, systems and programs to reasonably prevent compliance failures and ethical breakdowns, but also demonstrate the existence of a superior employee and leadership culture that promotes ethical business practices.”

Ethisphere’s licensed credentialing partners look at more than 100 separate criteria during the Ethics Inside Certification process, including corporate citizenship and FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE responsibility; overall compliance and ethics program; organizational health and culture of ethics; corporate governance; and regulatory history. No company is expected to excel in all criteria areas—yet the aggregate score must meet or exceed a level at which ethical behavior becomes the core expectation, fundamental compliance systems are in place, tone from the top is clear and the company’s actions bear unmistakable signs of good corporate citizenship.
