Elbit Systems of America completes CMMI reappraisal, retains Maturity Level 3 for multiple programs

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Nov. 16, 2021 Whether our customers are flying sophisticated aircraft, monitoring our country’s borders, or conducting targeting operations on the battlefield, they rely on Elbit Systems of America to deliver dependable solutions for their diverse missions. With the reappraisal on three of our key company business units and the product development within those units, we are making sure that we have the processes in place so that our customers continue receiving the very best we have to offer.

Elbit Systems of America was appraised at a Maturity Level 3 through the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) Institute for our Airborne Systems, C4I/Homeland Security, and Ground Combat & Precision Targeting business units. This was a reappraisal for our programs, examining current company processes against CMMI best practices. The assessment found the company continues to perform at a prescribed Level 3 Maturity, with processes that are well characterized and understood. The company’s Maturity Level rating will be in place until 2024 for all three business units.

“Maintaining a Maturity Level 3 from CMMI is an important recognition for our efforts, said Tiffany Nesbit, Vice President of Engineering at Elbit America. “The Aerospace and Defense Industry is a highly regulated space, so it’s important for companies like Elbit America to have solid, defined processes in place. Not only does this ensure our work is done in a repeatable manner, but it also leads to higher quality work and more dependable solutions for our customers.”

“By going through the rigorous CMMI appraisal process, Elbit America teams had to review and provide evidence of product development processes, collect data, and assess compliance,” said Raanan Horowitz, President and CEO of the company. “Retaining Maturity Level 3 for our programs proves a depth of quality and professionalism to our customers, our partners, and our peers. It also signifies that our team is committed to continuous process improvement and assessment.”

The Elbit Systems of America reappraisal was performed by The Process Group, a Dallas-based company that is a CMMI Institute Partner.

The CMMI Institute is a global leader in the advancement of best practices in people, process, and technology. Originally created for the U.S. Department of Defense to assess the quality and capability of their software contractors. The CMMI model is a proven set of best practices organized by critical business capabilities that improve business performance.
