ELBIT AMERICA TO PROVIDE MODERNIZED HEAD-UP DISPLAY REPLACEMENT FOR F-16 COMMUNITY

Talladega-based workforce to offer aftermarket expertise to USAF for Wide-Angle Conventional Head-Up Display replacement program

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – NOV. 21, 2024 Elbit Systems of America (Elbit America) received a firm Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract from the United States Air Force (USAF) to supply F-16 Block 40/42 Wide-Angle Conventional Head-Up Display replacements. The ID/IQ contract ceiling is up to $89 million. The first delivery order under the contract was received in September 2024 and amounted to more than $57.5 million. The work will be performed in Talladega, Ala., with the delivery of systems through September 2027.

The Wide-Angle Conventional Head-Up Display (WACHUD) projects critical flight and mission-related information and sits atop the F-16’s instrument panel. The WACHUD allows Airmen to process information quickly and reliably, contributing to overall mission success. The WACHUD replaces the Diffractive Optic Head-Up Displays currently in use on a portion of the USAF F-16s.

Elbit America Senior Vice President of Electronic Systems Scott Tumpak said, “The Wide-Angle Conventional Head-Up Display replacements provide modernization, but also commonality across the U.S. Air Force’s F-16 fleet. This commonality benefits the pilots, maintainers and supply chain, as the single configuration is easier to manage and maintain across the entire F-16 fleet.”

“Our Talladega workforce is the perfect choice to conduct this replacement work for the U.S. Air Force,” said Jimmy Johns, Elbit America Vice President of Operations who leads the site. “We know the F-16 aircraft well, having supported the majority of aircrafts’ avionics and Head-Up Displays for decades. We look forward to this multi-year program and the continued expansion of our aftermarket services.”

Elbit America’s Talladega facility currently supports nearly 200 customers, offering sustainment, service, and repair of complex military systems.
