Richard Edwards succeeds Robert Johnson in leadership role on company’s board
FORT WORTH, TEXAS – JAN. 13, 2025 – Elbit Systems of America, LLC (Elbit America), a high technology company, providing product and system solutions focused on United States military, homeland security, commercial aviation, and medical instrumentation markets, has named Richard “Rick” Edwards as Chairman of the Board.
Elbit America operates under a Special Security Agreement with the U.S. government and Elbit Systems Ltd. The agreement requires the establishment of an independent board of directors who provide leadership, vision and experience to Elbit America. The board of directors also oversees the company’s compliance with U.S. government security regulations.
Mr. Edwards brings nearly four decades of experience within the aerospace and defense industry to his new role as Chairman of the Board. Prior to joining Elbit America’s board as a Director in 2020, Mr. Edwards was a senior executive with Lockheed Martin. At Lockheed Martin, he was fundamental in the company’s international growth, forging industry partnerships and strengthening customer relationships.
Mr. Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gettysburg College and has served in numerous advisory roles, including the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Navy League of the United States Fort Worth Council, and more.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in the role of Chairman by Mr. Robert D. (Bob) Johnson, who held the position for four years. Mr. Johnson will continue his service to Elbit America as a Director on the company’s board.
